Is staying fit while traveling possible?

Traveling is (usually) exciting. Sadly, it usually means putting your fitness on hold.

This is not ideal, especially if you are just starting out. Getting into a routine is tough. Falling out of one is easy. It doesn't have to be this way.

Let's talk about how we can change this up and prioritize your health first! Your travel doesn't have to be an excuse to skip your fitness routine.

Quick Hotel Room Workouts:

Don't let a lack of access to a gym deter you from staying active:

  • Bodyweight Exercises: Simple yet effective bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, and planks can be done in the comfort of your hotel room. A quick 15-20 minute routine can keep you on track.

  • Resistance Bands*: These lightweight and portable bands can provide a full-body workout when you're away from your usual gym. You can perform various resistance band exercises to target different muscle groups.

  • Fitness Apps: When you are part of Phase 8 Fitness, our app keeps you connected and we can amend your exercises for what best suits you - wherever you are! You can also find quick workouts on Youtube to keep you going.

Making Healthy Choices When Dining Out:

Dining out while traveling doesn't have to be a dietary disaster:

  • Balance Your Plate: Opt for a balanced meal that includes lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid excessive fried or processed foods.

  • Portion Control: Pay attention to portion sizes. Restaurants often serve large portions. Consider sharing dishes or taking half of your meal to go. (I wish I was better at this.)

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated can help control your appetite and prevent overindulging.

Packing Fitness Essentials:

Be prepared by packing fitness gear in your suitcase:

  • Workout Clothes: Don't forget comfortable workout attire, including shoes, to motivate you to stay active.

  • Resistance Bands: As mentioned earlier, these are lightweight and take up minimal space.

  • Jump Rope*: A jump rope is a fantastic portable cardio option that you can use virtually anywhere.

Staying fit while traveling is all about adaptability and a willingness to prioritize your well-being. You don't even need to do a full workout (you read that right.) Short, consistent workouts, will keep your body on track and keep you feeling good.
